GST on online gaming and casinos,  Group of Ministers to complete report by 10 August

GST For Gaming

By August 10th, the Group of Ministers (GoM) will have completed its report on taxation on horse racing, casinos, and online gaming.

The panel of state finance ministers charged with bringing online gambling and casinos under the GST was unable to agree today and opted to finalise its findings by the end of the next month.

Currently, this sector of the online skill gaming industry has a GST rate of 18% on Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) and 0% on Contest Entry Fee (CEF).

The GST council has been debating raising the online gaming tax to 28%.

At the GST Council meeting set for August in Madurai, it is anticipated that the report would be discussed.

The panel decided that additional thought on the subject was necessary and set the 10th of August as the deadline for its report's completion.
